Memorial Service
Varysburg Valley Gospel Church
1:00 - 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Varysburg - Sharon A. Kerr, 69 of Varysburg, passed away on Tuesday (March 31, 2026) at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester.
Mrs. Kerr was born September 4, 1956 in Brookville, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Homer and Mabel Joanne (Cowan) Dinger.
Sharon was a devoted member of Varysburg Valley Gospel Church, where her faith guided both her life and her relationships. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-tending her garden, biking, camping, taking long walks, and preparing meals to share with others. Sharon especially cherished time spent entertaining family and friends, creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered. For many years, she also faithfully hosted a women's prayer group in her home, offering fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual support to those around her.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Jay Kerr of Varysburg; children, Jason (Robin) Kerr of Lancaster, Jennifer Helmicki of Attica, Lori (Steve) Van Dekken of Avon, and Ashley (Kyle) Britton of Ithaca; grandchildren, Lucas and Dylan Kerr, Kelsey, Jimmy, and Cole Helmicki, Amealia, Aydan, Abby, and Alana Van Dekkan, and one more on the way; siblings, Douglas (Nori) Dinger of Utah, Carl Dinger of Utah, Carol (Glen) Travis of Dunkirk, and Dennis Dinger of Dunkirk; sister-in-law, Bertha Dinger of North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Dinger.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Sharon's memorial service on Friday (May 8, 2026) at 1:00 p.m. at Varysburg Valley Gospel Church, 2442 Main Street (Route 20A) in Varysburg. Private burial will be held in Varysburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main Street in Attica. Online messages of condolence may be left at www.marleyfuneralhome.com.
