E. Bethany – Roger J. Norton, age 90, was reunited with the Lord and the love of his life on Friday, September 12, 2025, after his passing at United Memorial Medical Center, Batavia, NY. A man of faith, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, E. Bethany, NY.
Roger was born on October 14, 1934, in Batavia, NY, the son of Jesse and Ethel Norton. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary “Mickey” Bartz Norton, infant son, Gregory R.
Norton; grandson, Daniel Fluker; siblings, George Norton, Richard Norton, Donald Norton, Doris Lewis, and Evelyn Bigelow.
Roger was a long-time co-owner of Norton Brothers’ Dairy Farm. Following his dreams, he established his business of Norton Enterprise in 1971, selling Arctic Cat Snowmobiles and Polaris 4-wheelers. He always supported his family wholeheartedly, and the closeness was evident to everyone he came in contact with. He was active with Cub Scouts and supported his children and grandchildren in sports and activities they were involved with. He enjoyed sharing memories of his travel experiences to Amish country, snowmobiling in the mountains, traveling in his motor home, and enjoyed working on snowmobiles and wheelers. He served on the Bethany Town Board and was Church Trustee at Immaculate Conception in E. Bethany.
Survivors include his sons Fran (Bobbi) and Mark (Susan), and his daughters, Cindy Norton-Ortiz (Wayne Ortiz), Sandy (Jeff) Fluker, and Jane (Brian) Dills. His legacy will live on through his grandchildren, Greg (Jill) Norton, Lindsay (Jeff) Johnson, Kristie (Chris) Paonessa, Ashley (Tim) Gornikiewicz, Jason Knickerbocker, Amanda (Donny) Fonda, Andrew (Ashley) Norton, Bradley (Carrie) Fluker, and Jamie (Jessica) Fluker. He was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren – Liam and Luca Norton, Leland and Killian Johnson, Vienna Paonessa, Dawson and Hailey Gornikiewicz, Zayden Knickerbocker, Logan and Lincoln Fonda, and Faith Norton.
Calling hours will be at the Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Attica, NY, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Mary Immaculate Church, 11095 St. Mary Street, Pavilion, NY, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Attica.
Memorials may be made to the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, 5253 Old Telephone Road, E. Bethany, NY 14054, or to the family in care of Jane Dills, 4359 Dry Bridge Road, Alexander, NY, 14005, for a memorial in Roger’s name.
