Obituary

Robert Paul Barvian, 87, of Surprise, Arizona, formerly of Strykersville, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, with his family gathered by his side.

Bob was born on October 31, 1937 in Strykersville, a son of the late Otto and Bernice (Kriger) Barvian. He grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and community that remained the foundation of his life. He was predeceased by his siblings Jack Barvian, Jean Mulcahy, Nancy Johengen, and Mary Conrad.

On June 15, 1963, Bob married Shirley Conrad at St. Cecilia's Church in Sheldon. Together they built a marriage that spanned more than six decades. He is survived by Shirley and the family they built together: his sons, Scott of Mesa, Arizona; Mark (Nicole) of St. Louis, MO and their children Jamie and Ava; Kevin of Cambridge, MA; and Brian (Bridget) of Spencerport, NY and their children Logan and Nolan. He is also survived by his sister, Betty (Tom) Reisdorf of Indialantic, Florida.

A 1955 graduate of Arcade High School, Bob served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962. He retired from Moog Inc. in 1999. He was proud to serve his community in the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and St. Joseph's Church for many years.

After moving to Sun City Grand, AZ in 2001, he found joy in woodworking, bocce, tending his yard, and working on puzzles. He was a man of faith, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend Robert's Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 2311 RT-98 in Varysburg. In lieu of flowers, those wishing are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to the Wyoming Council 2240 Knights of Columbus, 2468 Walker Road, Alexander, New York 14005.
