Darien - Neil J. Marzolf, Sr., 82 of Darien, passed away unexpectedly at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia on Thursday (April 2, 2026).
Mr. Marzolf was born January 30, 1944 in Batavia, a son of the late Nelson and Marie (Garigen) Marzolf.
Neil was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Darien, and was a life time member of the Darien Fire Department.
After graduating from Alexander High School, he went to work for DeMuth-Marzolf before settling into a 46 year career with the Town of Darien Highway Department. He spent the last 20 years of his working career as Town of Darien Highway Superintendent.
He was a member of the Genesee County Highway Superindents Association, and for a period of time owned a snowmobile shop. He enjoyed hunting, and spending time at Camp Haff Ass in the Adirondacks. In his younger years he drove dragsters, running "Thunder II."
Surviving are his sons, Neil (Laura) Marzolf, Jr., Doug (Jennifer) Marzolf, Craig Marzolf, and Todd (Ellen) Marzolf all of Darien; grandchildren, Jason, Hunter, Grace, Adrien, Carson, Scott, and Nick; sisters, Carol (late John) Robinson of Lancaster, and Myrna (late Pete) Dilday of North Carolina.
Along with his parents, Neil is reunited in death with his wife, Betty (McJury) Marzolf; and brother, Vernon (late Marlene) Marzolf.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 3 to 7:00 p.m. at the Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main Street in Attica. Neil's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (April 9, 2026) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent's Church, 50 East Avenue in Attica. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cemetery in Darien.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Darien Fire Department.
