Strykersville - Mary A. Conrad, 81 of Strykersville passed away on Thursday (July 17, 2025) at Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
Mrs. Conrad was born March 12, 1944 in Strykersville, a daughter of the late Otto and Bernice (Kriger) Barvian.
Mary was a long time parishioner of St. John Neumann Parish (formerly St. Joseph's Church) in Varysburg. Mrs. Conrad was known by many as the "Popcorn Lady," as she sold popcorn for many, many years. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, and making cakes.
Surviving are her daughters, Lynn (Ronald) Swingle of Strykersville, and Lori Conrad Batavia; one son, David Conrad of Strykersville; and one grandson, Zackery Conrad of North Java;
one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (Thomas) Reisdorf of Indiatlantic, Florida; one brother, Robert (Shirley) Barvian of Surprise, Arizonia; sister-in-law, Judy Barvian of Skaneateles; and a special friend, Jerome (Butch) Rautenstrauch of Arcade
Along with her parents, Mary is reunited in death with her husband, Norman Conrad; brother, John Barvian; and sisters, Nancy (late Robert) Johengen, and Jean (late Joe) Mulcahy.
There will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend Mary's Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday (July 25, 2025) at St. John Neumann Parish - St. Joseph's Worship Site, 2311 NY-98 in Varysburg at 10:30 a.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Strykersville will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Neumann Parish, 50 East Avenue, Attica, New York 14011 or Sheldon Fire Department, 923 Centerline Road, Strykersville, New York 14145 or the charity of the donor's choice.
