Lena Belle (Babe) Stangrover

Lena Belle Stangrover, 90, of Cowlesville, N.Y. passed away on October 30, 2023 at Asbury/Chandler Estates, an assisted living facility in Pen Argyl, PA.

Lena was born June 8, 1933 in Portageville, N.Y. to the late Ernest Bailey and Vivian (Wood) Bailey.

Lena (Babe) was the co-owner of the Tipperary Restaurant in Attica, N.Y. for several years with her husband Bradley Stangrover. Lena mostly enjoyed being a school bus driver for over 25 years. She loved to share her students’ stories. Lena was very proud of her home made fudge. She would make it every holiday or when she was going to have family over.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Doreen Carney, Donald and Maria Carney, Garry and Lori Carney, Gregory and Renee Carney; 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Stangrover; her son, Ernest Carney, sisters; Alma, Ernestine, Lucile and June; brothers; Leslie, Roger, Royal and Myron.

There are no prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica. A luncheon will be held at 12:00 p.m. also on Saturday at Byrncliff Golf Resort & Banquets, Varysburg.
