Jeffery T Matteson

November 9, 1955 — February 12, 2026

Jeffery T. Matteson, 70, of Perry, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 peacefully at his home.

Jeff was born on Wednesday, November 9, 1955, in Buffalo, to the late Tracy and Bernadine (Romesser) Matteson. He attended Attica High School and earned an Associate's Degree in Applied Science Electrical Technology from Erie Community College.

Jeff worked 30 years for Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester and proudly served his community as a volunteer fireman with the Chili Fire Department, a role that reflected his quiet dedication to helping others. He found joy in the outdoors and could often be found tending to his farm, Locust Ridge Farm, driving his team of Percheron-Morgan horses, target shooting, reloading, hunting, or snowmobiling, embracing every season. A natural problem-solver, he was a person of profound wisdom and intellect, whose counsel was sought by many and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. His greatest happiness, however, came from time spent with his grandchildren-especially on nights filled with laughter, sparks, and fireworks, creating memories they will forever cherish.

He is survived by his children, Jeffery J. (Nicole) Matteson of Albion, Christopher (Maegan) Matteson of Lancaster, Marc Matteson of Perry; grandchildren, Jacob, Chelsey, Easton, Peyton, and Luke Matteson; siblings, David (Shelley) Matteson of Depew and Laura (Eric) Holderle of Elba; many nieces and nephews; uncles and aunts; and cousins.

In death Jeff is reunited with his son, Michael Matteson and parents Tracy and Bernadine Matteson.

A celebration of Jeff's life is being planned for this summer, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Details of the event will be forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, in memory of his mother, Bernadine, or Strong Memorial Hospital, in support of his grandchildren. Online condolences at www.marleyfuneralhome.com.
