Jean M. Johnson

Jean M. (Potter) Johnson, 84, of Akron, passed away on September 22, 2026, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in 1942, in Buffalo, New York, a daughter of the late Leo and Teresa (Conrad) Keem.

Jean was married to late James Potter "Sonny", and together they shared 31 years of marriage Jean worked in various retail positions during her life, and in different positions for Fisher-Price in East Aurora. She even took an opportunity later in life to return to college to obtain an associate's degree. But her most significant role was caring for her daughters and grandsons through the various challenges of life.

Jean was a longtime member of St. Cecilia's Church, and a member of the Newstead Senior Center, holding the position of board member for a time. In her free time Jean enjoyed watching NASCAR, and the New York Yankee's. Jean also enjoyed reading a good book and could become lost in the pages.

Jean is survived by her three daughters, Sharon (Eric) Uptegrove, June (Daniel) Callari, and Kathleen (Bruce) Storch; five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; brother James (Leslie) Keem, and sister Patricia (Art) Abrams.

In death, Jean is reunited with her husband, James W. Potter "Sonny"; son Jeffrey Potter, parents, Leo and Teresa Keem, brother Richard Keem, sister Sandra (George) Bovenzi, and in-laws Doris (George) Knab.

Family and friends are invited to attend Jean's funeral mass, which will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 am, at St. John Neumann (St. Cecilia's worship site), 991 Centerline Rd. Sheldon, New York 14145. Jean will be laid to rest at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery in Strykersville, New York, with her son Jeffrey.
