After high school he enlisted in the Air Force and served as an electronic technician for four years. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he was hired by Sylvania in Batavia as Quality Control Technician. He advanced through the years to Plant Quality Control Supervisor, was transferred to Greeneville, Tenn., following a company merger, and later retired from North American Phillips, after thirty-eight years of loyal service.
Howard (How or Howie) married his teenage sweetheart, Muriel Spencer, in 1952. Howie and Spence were happily married for the next seventy-three years. They raised a family of five children.
During his life, Howard had enthusiasm for many sports and continued to play. He was an avid golfer (made two holes-in-one) and a longtime member at Attica Golf Club. He played softball, played baseball on the Attica Town Team, played basketball with the American Legion Team, and played football on the Warsaw Town Team. How enjoyed bowling, boating, fishing and many family outings and picnics, swimming in any number of locations, camping vacations with family, fishing trips with friends and vacations with Muriel (Skyline Resort).
Howard was a cancer survivor. Howard and Muriel's retirement residence is in Frostproof, Fla.
