Gerald R. "Jerry" Elmore, 78, of Attica, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Susan (Smith) Elmore; his son, John (Jessica) Elmore; his daughter, Aubrey (Mike) Zamiara; his cherished grandchildren; and his brother, Ronald J. Elmore.

Born on March 30, 1948, in Batavia, New York, Jerry was the son of the late John R. Elmore and Ann A. (Wise) Elmore.

A graduate of Attica High School, Jerry continued his education at Alfred State College before earning his bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1970. Soon after, he married the love of his life, Susan L. Smith, beginning a lifelong partnership that spanned 56 years and was built on love, devotion, and family.

Jerry dedicated his professional career to the New York State Department of Corrections, retiring as Deputy Superintendent of the Wyoming Correctional Facility after years of distinguished service and leadership.

Above all else, Jerry cherished his family. He loved spending time with those he loved most and found great joy in watching his children and grandchildren grow. He enjoyed traveling across the country with his daughter as she competed in horse shows and was always by his son's side, lending a helping hand while building his home and tackling countless other projects. At home, Jerry took great pride in caring for his farm and animals, where he found both purpose and peace. Jerry treasured his time with his four grandchildren and loved being their "Papa" The memories, laughter, and special moments they shared brought him immense pride and happiness and will be cherished forever by his family.

Jerry is fondly remembered by family and friends for his big personality, contagious laughter, and wonderful storytelling. His ability to bring joy to those around him created countless memories that will be cherished forever. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

In accordance with Jerry's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Those wishing to honor Jerry's memory may make memorial contributions to Attica Ambulance in recognition of the compassionate care they provided to Jerry and his family.
