Evelyn Merrill

Evelyn (Peach) Merrill, 77 of Alexander, was reunited peacefully with her Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at The Gateway House, Attica.

She was born on January 19, 1948, the daughter of Donald and the late Corrine (Wiltberger) Brooks.

Peach married her high school sweetheart, Ron, on June 6, 1970. She began her career after graduating from Ithaca College with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, as a Physical Education Teacher at Caledonia-Mumford High School. Peach started a second career with greater flexibility to take care of her family, as a bookkeeper for My-T Acres, finally retiring as a bookkeeper for Lor-Rob Farms in East Bethany after 46 years. She loved sports, coaching at Tri Town, and modified basketball at Alexander Central High School.

She was a 25-year breast cancer survivor who cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them in any capacity, whether at the casino or fishing with Ron.

Peach is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald Merrill; daughter Katherine (Douglas) Kautz of Lafayette; father, Donald Brooks; granddaughters, Samantha Kautz of Lafayette, Allison (Jayden) Cooper, and Lia Merrill of Rochester; siblings, Donna (Cliff) Bagg of Batavia, Morris (Phyllis) Brooks of Georgia; sister in law, Susan Brooks of Vermont; cherished nieces, nephews and their extended families; as well as many who were not related by blood but loved her as though they were. In death, Peach is reunited with her mother, Corrine Brooks; son, Paul Merrill; siblings, Lynn Brooks and Martin Brooks.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Marley Funeral Home, LLC, 135 Main Street, Attica, New York 14011. There will be no prior calling hours. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.
