Donald Eugene Putnam, 82, of Attica, NY, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025 surrounded by family.
Born on October 8, 1942 to the late Ellsworth and Maude (Phelps) Putnam, Don lived a life marked by quiet strength, dedication, and craftsmanship. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1966 aboard the USS Forrestal, an experience that shaped his character and deepened his appreciation for duty and service.
Following his military service, Don spent over 25 years working for Eastman Kodak, where his strong work ethic and attention to detail earned him the respect of colleagues and supervisors alike. After his retirement Don enjoyed annual trips to watch the Rochester Red Wings with his fellow Kodak retirees and friends.
In retirement, Don pursued his passion for woodworking. Whether building furniture or bird houses, or restoring old pieces with care, he found joy in creating with his hands, and generously shared his talents with friends and family.
Don is survived by his two sons, James Putnam and Stephen Putnam; his stepchildren, Joelle (Matt) Stroud, Nick Carney (Nicole Erle), and Kristin (Josh) Smith; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his beloved twin sisters, Carol Day and Linda Spinosa.
His personality and wit left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his fierce independence, determination and individuality will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Don’s memory to a veterans’ organization of your choice.
