Charles L. Kellogg, 91, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023.


Born on July14, 1932 in Buffalo, NY, to the late Charles E. and Emily (nee Schlagenhauf) Kellogg,


Charles is survived by Dorothy (nee Siebert), his beloved wife of 44 years; his children Kevin and Wendy (Dean), and by four step-children--James Starkweather (Kathleen), Kathy George (Mark), Sharon Laskett (James) and John Starkweather (Traci). Charles leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Ruth Pickert (William) of Batavia, his sister Shirley McGowan (Duane) of Lockport, and his sister Joan Oliveria (Ponzi) of Batavia. The family will miss him dearly.


Charles (“Chuck”) earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland and a master’s degree in Education from SUNY Brockport. He proudly served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He was a

physical education teacher in the Pembroke, Fredonia and Attica school districts until his retirement in 1993. He coached successful teams in high school basketball, wrestling and golf.

An avid golfer himself, with a handicap of 5, he shot 4 holes-in-one over his playing career and won the Attica Golf Club championship in 1973 and 1974. He provided golf lessons for dozens of young people and adults across the western NY region. With Dorothy, Charles devoted time and energy in service as members of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Attica, NY. They

loved dancing to big band and country music, golfing, and socializing with other snowbird friends each winter in Palmetto, Florida. Charles was known for his athletic abilities, his dedication to his students, his industriousness, and his enjoyment and support of family and friends. Rest in peace Coach Kellogg.


No calling hours are planned. However, friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (11 Washington St., Attica, NY) on Saturday, January

6, 2024 at 11:00 am. Refreshments to follow the service.


In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Paul’s UCC, Attica.
