Attica

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine L. Kubala, a beloved resident of Attica, NY, who left this world peacefully on Monday, November 24th, 2025, at the age of 96.

Catherine was born in Attica on Friday, November 8th, 1929, a daughter of the late Everett Sr. and Julia (Barny) Carpenter.

Catherine's life was one of dedication, love, and service. She spent many years as a skilled seamstress at Darien Knitting Mill in Attica, New York, then Busy Mart, Attica where her friendly personality got to blossom, and later as a bus aide for the Attica Bus Services. Beyond her professional life, Catherine was known for her love of gardening and flowers, often transforming her home into a vibrant tableau of nature's beauty. Her enthusiasm for all things Christmas was infectious; her family and friends fondly remember her joy in making the season magical.

She was a devoted wife to the late Henry Kubala Sr. and survived by her five children: Elaine (Doug) Olszewski, Henry Jr. (Robbin) Kubala, Steven (L. Kathleen) Kubala, Julie (Derek) Evitt, and Laurie (Ralph) Havens. Her family was her pride and joy, and she extended her love to her 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son David Kubala and siblings Everett (Lois) Carpenter, Evelyn (Arthur) Gorny, and Jim Dunn. Catherine is also remembered fondly by her extended family, including her daughter-in-law, Barba Kubala.

The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Marley Funeral Home, located at 135 Main Street, Attica. A funeral service will follow on Friday, December 5, at 10:00 AM at the same location. Catherine will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica, where she will be surrounded by the community she so dearly loved.

The family would like to send out a special thank you to all the staff at the Eastside Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
