Bruce Northrup Walton, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at his lifelong home on June 26, 2026.
He was born in Batavia on April 13, 1958, the son of the late Harold and Alice (Kreutter) Walton.
From a young age, Bruce was no stranger to hard work, first helping on his Uncle Hank's farm. He then worked alongside his father at Harold Walton Trucking in Alexander, where he was part of the company from its beginnings in the early 1970's, when it consisted of just two trucks. In 1990, he purchased the business from his father, then changed the name to Walton Milk Hauling, Inc. Through hard work, determination, and dedication, Bruce grew the business into a highly successful operation, with a fleet of 40 units in its prime.
What Bruce built was more than a successful business. He was known for his strong work ethic, unwavering commitment, and signature sarcasm. He devoted himself seven days a week to ensuring the company's success, while supporting the employees who became an important part of the Walton Milk Hauling family. His leadership, perseverance, and dedication left a lasting impact on the company, the community, and all who had the privilege of working with him.
Outside of work, Bruce found joy in playing softball in local beer leagues, golfing, bowling, and camping. He never passed up an opportunity to gather with family and friends and was always ready for a good party. If you were lucky, you might catch him enjoying a good truck magazine! Above all else, his greatest pride and happiness came from his family, whom he loved deeply.
He is survived by his children, Rylee and Hayden Walton; life partner, Jessica Berggren, and her daughter, Zoey Berggren; sister, Brenda Jarvis; nieces and nephews, Tricia (Mike) Davis, Michelle Froebel, and Brian Jarvis; many cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and many lifelong friends.
Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Attica. Bruce's funeral service will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 9th, 2026 at Marley Funeral Home. A luncheon will be held immediately following the funeral service at the Beachhead Veterans Club, 3318 Broadway Road, Alexander. A private burial will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Bruce's children request you bring a funny story about him to share. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made either to the Alexander Fire Department, Attica Fire Department, or Tri Town Youth Athletics, 10708 Alexander Road, Alexander, NY 14005.
