Beverly Elaine (Stringham) Wise, 93, passed away on March 28, 2026 at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia. She was born May 5, 1932, to the late Harold and Freda (Erhardt) Stringham. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Wise and brother Paul (Pappy) Stringham (Ellen).
Bev retired from the Attica Correctional Facility after 26 1/2 years. Before that Bev and Bill worked side by side operating Bill's Restaurant in Attica from 1953-1961. She was a member of the American Legion Harder-O'Donnell Post 734 Auxiliary and former longtime member of the Attica Golf Club and the Republican Ladies Organization.
Bev never met a stranger; everyone became a friend, and she was fondly referred to as Aunt Bev, Grandma and Bevie. She was an avid card player and could be found playing Pinochle with her best friend Carol Shreder and the ladies on Wednesdays. She also loved playing Euchre with family and friends, and when her great grandson came to visit, a game of UNO. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and just being around people.
Bev and Bill spent many years traveling to Cocoa Beach with family and friends. After Bill's passing, she continued to vacation to Cocoa Beach with friends. She enjoyed a summer vacation at the lake where she loved to entertain. In later years she enjoyed vacations in Venice, FL with Suzi and Dan.
Surviving are her daughter Suzanne (Suzi) Miller and her favorite son-in-law, Daniel; her adored grandchildren, Ryan D. Miller (Ashley) and Tina Miller (Ron) and special great grandson USAF Airman First Class Tyler Miller (Kaitlyn) and several cousins, and her special nieces and nephews.
Quoted from Suzanne Somers poem "She is Christmas Morning" and as our family knows, she was all about it. Every Christmas morning she entertained her family, and whoever wanted to join for her famous chicken noodle soup, goodies and cheer. She became known amongst her friends for her chicken soup and made it for gatherings.
In keeping with Bev's wishes, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. Bev requested a Celebration of Life be held at the Attica Golf Club (Attica's 10 Hole), 95 Bunnell Street, Attica on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12 pm to 3 pm.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to The American Legion Harder-O'Donnell Post 734, Ladies Auxiliary, 83 Market Street, Attica, NY 14011 or Attica Fire Department Rescue Squad, 11 Water Street, Attica, NY 14011. To leave a condolence, please visit www.marleyfuneralhome.com.
