On August 10, 2025, Beatrice Johnson peacefully passed away with family at her side. The previous day she was surrounded by several generations of her family as she prepared for her eternal resting place. Born December 2, 1928, to Arthur and Mabel Petrie of Attica, NY.
Bea was married to Paul Johnson on September 4, 1950. They had 3 children, Daniel of Darien Ctr., Julie (Tom) Kelsey of Attica, and David (Laurie) of Scriba. Bea was the loving grandmother of Sarah Fisher, Beth Powell, Danielle Kelsey, Todd Kelsey, Molly Haungs, Joe Johnson, Amy Bresee, Scott Johnson, and Nate Wootten. She was blessed to enjoy 17 great grandchildren.
Bea is survived by her siblings Joanne Barry, David Petrie, Thomas Petrie, Mary Jane Pearce, and Judy (Bill) Olsen. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
In death she is reunited with her husband, Paul, her parents, brother John Petrie, and grandson Seth Wootten.
In her early years, Bea was a hairdresser, telephone operator, "stay at home" mom, clerk at Ben Franklin's, the deli at Super Duper (she loved giving a piece of bologna to every kid shopping with mom), and finally an attendant at the Prospect St. laundromat. Bea was never concerned about how much the job paid; she simply wanted to be with people.
Bea was an avid Bills fan but loved her family even more. She was always excited to hear what her grandkids and great grandkids were doing. She was especially fond of cooking, baking, the fall canning season, bird watching, collecting "iron stone dishes", and most of all her home especially when filled with her people.
Bea was a member of Holy Family Parish, N. Java. She was not a "joiner"; however, she truly enjoyed her friends who were members of the Hen's Club.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Leroy Village Green for their loving care and uncompromised professionalism.
A mass and Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on August 22, 2025 at Holy Family Parish,. Burial will immediately follow at St. Vincent Cemetery in Attica, New York.
