William H. Walters

April 1, 1928 — October 18, 2022

William H. Walters, went to be with our Lord on October 18, 2022 after being at Wyoming County Community Hospital following a fall at home. Bill, as he was known, was born April 1, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He is the son of the late Ruth (Harvey) Walters and William R. Walters. Bill is preceded in death by his first wife Betty, who died in 1969 and his son Billy, who died in 1980.


Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948 and again in 1952-1954. He was Honorably Discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. Bill was a chemical engineer who studied at Lehigh University in PA. He worked at Bell Aerospace as part of the team that worked on the Mercury Space Project. He later worked for Linde and retired from Sherwood Selpac in Lockport as QC manager.


He was a 62 year member of the Masonic Fraternity and served as presiding officer of four concordant bodies. He was a devoted member of Attica Trinity UMC serving many years as treasurer and trustee. His prior service was at Kenmore Presbyterian Church as Elder before moving to Attica.


Bill was a beloved father, husband and friend of many. He was known to be able to fix anything, and over 200 clocks were cleaned and running again for countless people, as well as his own collection, over the years. In his retirement years he loved the serenity of country life, watching wildlife and feeding the birds.


He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy (Baum) Walters, daughter Peggy (George) Page, sons George (Sharon), Mark Cleveland, David Cleveland, Tom (Gianna) Cleveland, and Jim (Becky) Cleveland, grandchildren Nich & Danny Hart, Ben, Jake & Sam Walters, and Molly & Shane Cleveland, great grandchildren Ashley, Layla, Zeke & Ozzie Hart.


Friends are invited to call on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC., 135 Main Street, Attica, NY 14011. He will be laid to rest with Military Honor’s in Elmlawn Cemetery, Kenmore. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Attica Trinity United Methodist Church, 75 Main St, Attica, NY 14011, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, www.roswellpark.org, or to any Military, Masonic and Animal charities.
