Edna Marie Barrett

August 3, 1922 — May 20, 2022

Edna Marie (Stroh) Barrett, 99 of Attica, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Wyoming County Community Hospital, due to complications of COViD-19. She was born August 3, 1922 in Alexander to the late Edward and Dorothy (Reithenburg) Stroh. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwyn M. Barrett, siblings, Kenneth Stroh and Majorie (Harold) Hampton.

Edna grew up in the Stroh family rose business on Stroh Road in Attica and was a lifelong resident of Attica. She graduated from Alexander School in 1940.

She worked at George, King, Boss Insurance Agency for many years. Edna was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Attica and Lifetime member of the Attica ladies American Legion Auxiliary. She loved watching the Buffalo Bills play and enjoyed swimming with the Rusty Hinges at the YMCA’s in Batavia and Warsaw, until the age of 90. Edna loved playing Euchre and Pinochle for many years with friends.

Surviving are her three children, James (Marie) Barrett of Akron, David Barrett, Kathleen Hamill both of Attica, 8 grandchildren, Lorie Wawrzyniak, Patty (Steve) Charles, Jimmy (Serena) Barrett all of Attica, Molly (Jim) Bongiovanni, Elizabeth (Craig) Ayers of Conesus Lake, Lacey (Tim) Wahls of FL, Jennifer (Johnny) Hinton, Jeff Hamill of Georgia, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.
