Barbara J. Van Son

Barbara J. (Switzer) Van Son, 73 of Attica, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 21, 2020 while vacationing with family. Barb was born January 25, 1947 to the late Bernard (Evelyn Ward) Switzer. She is also preceded in death by sisters Shirley Weatherbee, Patricia Van Son and brother Melvin Switzer, all who she dearly missed.

Barb was an Attica famous bartender working at several local establishments for over 25 years, she was also a sewing machine operator and childcare provider. She loved camping, going to Chinese auctions, gun raffles, bowling, spending time with family, baking, knitting and chocolate making. Barb loved hosting family events including an annual Easter Egg Hunt at her home.

Barb was married to her loving and devoted husband Douglas R. Van Son of Attica, for 55 years. She is also survived by her children Stephen (Teresa) Van Son of Darien Center; David (Kathleen) Van Son of Akron; Michelle (Harold) Trapper of Clarence; grandchildren Jordon (Cassy) Janiszewski, Joshua (Oliva) Van Son, Nicholas Van Son, Savannah (Jordan) Phillips, Tyler Janiszewski, 3 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters with another arriving soon. Siblings Dennis (Inez) Switzer, Kenneth (Sue) Switzer, Darryl (Nina) Switzer and Laurie (Mike) Corcimiglia.

There will be no prior calling hours. Services will be held privately.
