Robert J Burns

Robert J. Burns, Sr., 84, of Bennington, New York, passed away on December 28, 2018. He was born in Tonawanda, NY to the late William E. and the late Lillian (Getty) Burns.

He was predeceased by his son, Timothy Paul, and his brother, Harold "Pat" Burns.

During high school Bob met and fell in love with the strikingly beautiful Nancy Luh. They were both 16. When he left this earth they had been married for 67 years. In 1995, Bob retired from Conrail where he had worked as a Conductor since 1957. Bob, who could fix almost anything, was always ready to help family, friends and neighbors. He spent countless winters clearing the driveways of almost everyone he knew. Bob, who was always ready with a joke, enjoyed working on cars, watching the Buffalo Bills and driving everywhere with his beloved dog Snoopy.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Luh) Burns; his children, Linda Burns, Robert Burns, Jr, Dawn (David) Berg, Bradlee Burns, Nanette (Thomas) Beechler, Michael (Angela) Burns; his siblings, Rosemary (the late Adrian) Eckenrode, William Burns, Ernest “Pete” Burns, Shirley (the late Sidney) Hansen, LaVerne “Skip” Burns, Lillian “Sugar” Czemerynski; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild on the way and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Services will be held privately with family.
